The last time Drogheda United enjoyed a table-topping start to the League of Ireland season, 11 years ago, Daire Doyle had a major part to play.

Three wins and three draws from the opening six games of the 2014 campaign had Robbie Horgan’s team dreaming of a memorable season. Things soon went downhill, however.
