Drogheda's Boyle boy Bolger has been to the Moone and back in dream year
The Drogs defender returned home to county Roscommon last month as a hero after 12 months of huge personal and professional change.
James Bolger had graduated from float to front. The St Patrick’s Day parade in Boyle, county Roscommon is a tradition in the Bolger household but this years edition will be remembered especially fondly.
While his Drogheda United teammates mounted an open top bus 130km away in Drogheda, ready to parade the FAI Cup in front of a crowd of thousands, Bolger was back on home soil in front of a decidedly more modest mob of onlookers.
The population of Boyle is just shy of 3,000. Actress Maureen O’Sullivan hails from there. In 1965, it became the last town in Ireland to be connected to the electricity grid.
