The last time I spoke to Freddie Draper was in June 2023, a couple of days before his wildly successful six-month loan spell at Drogheda United had come to an end.

Then 18-years-old, he was speaking to the media to mark winning the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers Ireland Player of the Month award for May. Four of his eight Drogheda goals had come that month.
