Left backs won't feel the squeeze as Doc experiments with new systems
A 3-4-2-1 formation has been trialled heavily in pre-season as the Drogs boss attempts to get the best of his squad for the new season.
Kevin Doherty says that he won’t shoehorn both Evan Weir and Conor Kane into the Drogheda United for the sake of it - as the two players look set to battle it out for a regular slot in the Drogs line up.
Both players started the two Leinster Senior Cup group games against Bohemians and Dundalk and the final pre-season friendly against Bray Wanderers - with Weir playing on the left of a back three, with Kane deployed at wing back - but have alternated in the left back positions in the friendly games against Shelbourne and St Patrick’s Athletic.
