The Chris Lyons interview: "Everyone knew how much pain I was in. My Ma wanted me to stop. It was torture. It was killing me"
The former Drogheda United man talks to Love Is The Drog about his decision to retire last year, the physical toll recent seasons have taken on him and why his love for the club still burns bright.

For most of our hour long conversation at Finnbees Coffee House on Bray’s seafront, Chris Lyons is almost certainly the most accomplished sportsperson in the building. A 14-year-career in the League of Ireland had seen the striker amass over 300 appearances, while he registered at an approximate rate of one goal in every four games.
The Bray native - he was born and bred there and still calls it home to this day - also represented the Republic of Ireland at Under 18 and 19 level too. His is an impressive CV and he is a recognisable face to those in the sporting know around the seaside town.
