John Donohue is well accustomed to corridors of power. For decades, he worked within the walls of buildings where issues of great import are discussed, decisions made and bills turned into the law of the land. In January this year, after 27 years, he swapped Leinster House and Áras an Uachtaráin for football sidelines, for good.
